Fans must respect Aaron Brown - Darlington boss Cooper

Darlington boss Mark Cooper has called for supporters to show their support for defender Aaron Brown after his display against Luton on Tuesday.

Brown, 30, netted in the 2-2 draw at the Arena and created the other for striker Liam Hatch and Cooper has asked the boo-boys to lay off the criticism.

"He gets a bit of stick off the crowd, but he's going to be important for us," Cooper told BBC Tees.

"He's experienced, he came on in the second half when fans got behind him."

Much travelled full-back Brown arrived at the club after a stint at Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Wrexham last season, and lists Bristol City, Swindon Town and Gillingham among his former clubs.

He has made 311 league appearances, scoring 21 goals.

The only sour note for Cooper is that his side again squandered a 2-0 lead, following on from Saturday's 2-2 draw at Bath City.

However the former Tamworth and Kettering boss remains positive, given his side's recent run of form.

"It's something we've got to address, and we tried to change it tonight and went to 4-4-2," Cooper added.

"We got ourselves in front and we need to hang onto those leads, but one defeat in 10 and it's been a big change since last year.

"If we finish anywhere near Luton then we'll either win it or be in the play-offs because they're a good side with good players."
