Staunton has fond memories of the FA Cup from his time at Liverpool
Darlington boss Steve Staunton has said there will be no "settling of scores" when the Quakers take on Barnet in the FA Cup on Saturday.
The Quakers lost 3-0 at Underhill a fortnight ago in a feisty game but Staunton says his players will seek to avenge themselves by fair means only.
"You take a hit or tackle like a man, you get up and get on with it; there's nothing nasty in it," he told BBC Tees.
"There won't be any of that from our players - we're hard but fair."
Staunton, an FA Cup winner with Liverpool 20 years ago, believes the cup is again blossoming in importance, even with the top Premier League clubs.
"Like winning any trophy, it's a wonderful honour and achievement," the former Republic of Ireland boss said.
"You only have to look over the last few years and the big clubs are starting to put out their better sides because winning trophies is what it's all about.
"Yes, there's development of players, but the most important thing in football is winning trophies, and the fans will tell you that."
Darlington's best run in the FA Cup came in the 1910/11 and 1957/58 seasons when they reached the last 16.
