Penney hails Carlton development

Danny Carlton
Carlton has scored three goals in as many games for Penney's side

Darlington manager Dave Penney believes striker Danny Carlton is beginning to reap the benefits of a regular spell in the first team.

Carlton, 25, who is on loan from Carlisle, has scored three goals in as many games including one in Saturday's 2-0 home win against Aldershot.

"Danny has been excellent for us ever since he arrived at the football club," he told BBC Tees.

"His work ethic is fantastic and now he is getting his rewards."

The Leeds-born striker began his career with Morecambe, scoring the goal which took them into the Football League, before joining Carlisle in June 2007.

The Quakers are currently 12th in League Two, nine points off the play-off positions despite incurring a 10-point penalty for entering administration.
