Hatch hamstring scare for Quakers

Darlington have been dealt an injury blow after on-loan Peterborough striker Liam Hatch limped out of their 1-0 win at Rotherham United on Tuesday.

Hatch, 26, was taken off early in the second half but manager Dave Penney is hopeful the former Barnet forward will be back for Saturday's trip to Grimsby.

"It's a hamstring, he came off straight away after he'd done it and we've had it iced up," he told BBC Tees.

"We think he'll probably be out for the weekend but you never know."

Hatch has scored four goals in 11 appearances since joining the Quakers in August 2008.

Meanwhile Tuesday's win at the Don Valley Stadium took Darlington to seven games unbeaten, their fifth victory during that spell.

All the talk ahead of October was of a difficult month but Penney concedes there will be no easy fixtures for his side at any stage of the season.

"We've just got to make sure we get switched on for every game we play," he said.

"I said to the players before this month that we had a tough month and they've just said to us in there 'Oh, a tough month was it?' and I said it was and that we had another coming.

"There are good footballers at any level of the game, and nobody runs away with titles, they have to work their socks off like we did here today."
