Penney unfazed by play-off rivals

Penney has seen his squad decimated by injury

Darlington boss Dave Penney has said he does not care which team his side will face in the League Two play-offs.

"I don't mind who we draw. Once you get to the play-offs the league form goes out of the window and it's just a cup competition," he told BBC Tees.

"We're at home first so it's important we do well, but there's a lot of teams who have won away from home as well.

"Sometimes if you're at home there's a lot of pressure on the team to go out there and get a result."

The Quakers' injury problems have been widely reported in the media and Penney is downbeat about the possibility of players returning in time for Saturday's game with Peterborough.

Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory.

"We can't worry about them now, they've been written off the season," he said.

"Julian Joachim won't be available for Saturday, Ryan Valentine won't be, and neither Guy Ndumbu-Nsungu, Neil Austin, Pawel Abbott, Tim Ryan, Andy Oakes. It's getting stupid now.

"The games have caught up with us and the injuries have caught up with us. We have got our backs against the wall now."
