Pawel Abbott was a �100,000 summer signing for Darlington

Manager Dave Penney told the club website: "He's been holding off having it done but the injury is restricting him and he's missed a lot of training."

Meanwhile, former keeper Andy Collett has been appointed Darlington's head goalkeeping coach on a full-time basis.

Collett played 146 games for Darlington but a shoulder injury forced the 34-year-old into retirement in 2004.

He told Darlington's website: "There are only one or two clubs in our division with full-time goalkeeping coaches.

"This is a sign of the ambition of the club and I am pleased that the chairman has recognised the importance of this specialist position."
