Darlington chairman George Houghton is planning to appoint a director of football to work with their new boss. The League Two outfit have been without a full-time manager since David Hodgson was sacked last week.
A club statement explained that the new director of football would "oversee the work of Darlington's new manager".
The Quakers also hope to appoint either Neil Maddison or Martin Gray, who are in caretaker charge of the team, to an "enhanced" assistant manager role.
"A strengthened football management structure has worked at other clubs, but resource issues have prevented it being tried at Darlington," Houghton added.
