Matt Tootle made 26 league starts for Crewe Alexandra last season

Full-back Matt Tootle has signed a new and improved three-year contract with Crewe Alexandra.

The 19-year-old's previous deal was not due to expire until 2012 but he has been rewarded with fresh terms after establishing himself in the first team.

Tootle made 28 appearances last season after displacing former captain Billy Jones at left-back, scoring his first goal in a 2-2 draw at Rochdale.

He joins Ashley Westwood in committing his future to the Alex this summer.
