Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland has said the Alex must improve quickly after seeing his side fall to second-bottom in League One.
The Railwaymen lost 3-0 at Scunthorpe on Saturday, their fourth defeat in five away games this season.
Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: "We're not scoring enough goals, we're conceding too many and our league position is perilous.
"It's early but we are far enough in for me to know things need to change."
Crewe, who host fifth-placed MK Dons next weekend, have not won in six league and cup games - and they have picked up just one point out of a possible 12.
