Crewe first-team coach Steve Holland has turned his attentions to signing a defender after his side's 2-1 opening-day defeat at home to Brighton.
Both of the visitors goals came from defensive mistakes with Albion scoring the winner in injury time.
Holland told BBC Radio Stoke: "To lose it with what was basically a huge punt down the middle is hugely frustrating.
"We have been looking [for a new defender] but I haven't managed to find one that's better than what we've got."

Holland has failed to sign any new defenders but says it has not been for the lack of trying.
"We've had a Portuguese centre-half in on trial, a French centre-half in on trial.
"I watched a player last week who I would've looked to sign, but he decided to join Norwich on a season-long loan instead."
