Crewe striker Nicky Maynard is expected to be out of action for three to fourth months after breaking his leg on the opening day of the season. The 20-year-old was injured during the 2-1 win over Brighton on Saturday with doctors later diagnosing a fractured fibula and ankle ligament damage.
Boss Dario Gradi told the club website: "Nicky has fractured his fibula and will be out for a few months.
"It is a huge disappointment for us and for him, but he will come again."
