Otsemobor has impressed during his loan spell at Crewe |
Crewe boss Dario Gradi is hoping to make defender Jon Otsemobor stay at the club on a permanent deal. The 21-year-old, on loan for the last three months from Premiership side Liverpool, has been in impressive form in the Championship.
His current deal is set to end on New Year's Eve but Liverpool have agreed, in principle, a permanent move.
Gradi told Crewe's website: "Now we have to try and reach an agreement with the player."
Gradi and chairman John Bowler will hold talks with the player in the next few weeks.
"I don't really know if he would want to come here on a permanent basis, but he seems to have enjoyed himself or he wouldn't have extended his loan into a third month," said Gradi.
Otsemobor made his Crewe debut in the 3-0 win against Watford in October and scored his first goal in the 2-2 draw with Leicester last month.
The England Under-21 international is a product of Liverpool's Academy set-up and played five games for the club's senior team under Gerard Houllier.
"He has great potential and we have seen something in him," added Gradi.
"It is now a question of him wanting to come here and developing his game or whether someone else will pay him more money."
