Crawley Town manager Steve Evans has signed an extension to his contract to keep him at the club until July 2011.

The former Boston United boss arrived in the summer after the club had stayed up on the final day of last season but they are now heading for a mid-table.

"It was always been a three-year plan and we've made a million strides but we've still got five million to go," he told BBC Southern Counties Radio.

"The wage bill is down, and we've got more talent to challenge at the top".

Evans led Boston to promotion to the Football League in April 2002 but left the club after an FA investigation, rejoining the club in March 2004.

He left the Pilgrims for a second time in May 2007 after resigning from the post.

Evans commented: "I've made mistakes in the past. I've moved on now, and to be fair to both me and Crawley, we all took a gamble when I joined and I think it's working so far."
