Coventry have re-signed midfielder Lee Carsley on a one-year contract eight years after he left the club.
The 36-year-old was released by Birmingham at the end of last season and joins Gary McSheffrey in returning to the Sky Blues from St Andrew's.
Manager Aidy Boothroyd said: "He is a leader and knows what it takes to win on a regular basis."
Carsley joined joined Coventry from Blackburn in December 2000 but left for Everton 14 months later.
Boothroyd added: "Any good team needs a balance of talent, experience, physical presence, pace and, obviously, footballing ability.
"I want Lee to be the glue that binds the team together because he has all of those."
Carsley will be in Coventry's squad for Saturday's pre-season friendly with Walsall.
