Coventry City players Michael Mifsud and Aron Gunnarsson have travelled with their international squads despite having picked up injuries.
Striker Mifsud missed Saturday's game with Plymouth due to a leg injury, while Gunnarsson injured his wrist in the Sky Blues' 1-0 home defeat.
But they could now face each other in Malta's friendly with Iceland in Valetta on Wednesday (1330 GMT).
Mifsud is in the Maltese squad and Gunnarsson is with Iceland.
Gunnarsson will miss the Sky Blues' next match at Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday anyway as he is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season (and his third in five games) against Argyle.
Two other Coventry City players are with their national squads.
Goalkeeper Kieron Westwood is with the Republic of Ireland, who play Poland in Dublin on Wednesday night (2000 GMT). And Chris Birchall is in the Trinidad and Tobago squad for a World Cup qualifier against Cuba in Port of Spain.
