No bids for Mifsud, say Coventry
Michael Mifsud celebrating scoring against Manchester United
Mifsud has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season
Coventry City chairman Ray Ranson has revealed the club have received no bids for in-form Maltese striker Michael Mifsud and wants it to stay that way.

The 26-year-old star has scored braces against Manchester United and Blackburn in the cups this season.

"Our intention is to keep Mifsud and build a side that is capable of promotion as soon as possible," Ranson told BBC Radio Coventry & Warwickshire.

"(Manager) Iain Dowie is confident we've got a chance this year."

Although Ranson insists the future of the club is of more importance than what happens this season.

"I don't want to dampen that enthusiasm but we are building for the long term as well."

And former Manchester City player Ranson has laughed off any claims that Dowie's job is under threat, with former Newcastle managers Kevin Keegan and Graeme Souness linked to his position.

"Absolutely, Kevin Keegan will not be appearing at Coventry City, and neither will Graeme Souness. We had a chuckle about that one, so I can scotch that rumour."
