Brian Wilson makes case for Colchester United quality

Colchester United defender Brian Wilson insists his team have not become a bad side after one poor result.

Saturday's 3-0 loss to Huddersfield was their first taste of defeat in League One this season.

The 27-year-old told BBC Essex: "We'll forget about the score. We haven't been unbeaten for 10 games for no reason.

"We're a good side in this league and we're going to be up there, no doubt about it. You can't dwell on it too much, games come thick and fast."

Despite their 10-game unbeaten run, which included seven draws, the U's are now down to 11th in the table after a disappointing performance at the Community Stadium.

"I feel like we gifted them a few goals, they didn't really break us down and create any chances," Wilson added.

"It's just a bad day at the office for us. When you give the ball away easily as a team then they're going to take their chances."

The former Cheltenham full-back was making his return to first-team action after a month on the sidelines due to an ankle injury.

He said he was satisfied with his outing: "I am pleased to be back, I got tired towards the end, I need to work on my fitness a bit more.

"I only trained a few times with the physio during the week.

"There's some great players left out of the team and if you don't perform then the lads will be on our toes for the shirts."
