Colchester United manager Geraint Williams insists that there have been no offers for two of his most high- profile players.
Goalkeeper Dean Gerken and forward Mark Yeates have been linked with moves away from the relegated Essex club.
But, despite paper talk, Williams has denied any official approach. "I can tell you when something happens, then we'll talk about it," he said.
"We don't react to speculation but only to deals which are confirmed."
To illustrate Williams' point, Colchester did not comment on rumours linking them with Nottingham Forest's Matt Lockwood until they had an offer accepted this week.
"People can see from when we had an offer accepted for Matt Lockwood to the signing being confirmed it took a while," said Williams. "Rumours start but sometimes it takes a while to seal the deal."
