Williams focused on grand finale

Geraint Williams
Williams has just one more match in the Layer Road dug-out

Colchester boss Geraint Williams said his side's focus will be on securing victory in Saturday's last-ever game at Layer Road.

The U's boss insisted his side should not get caught-up in the emotion of the occasion against high-flying Stoke.

"Everyone rightly wants to say goodbye to the ground - it's the end of an era," Williams told BBC Essex.

"But we've got to make sure that they've got one last smile at this ground."

He added: "We've got to be professional and concentrate on the performance and that is what we'll be setting out to do."

He added: "People will spend a moment and stand where they have for all these years and look around and think back, whatever the result is.

Williams has spent 10 years at the Essex club and conceded he may allow himself to get a little sentimental after the match.

He said: "After the game is done and we've had a good performance and come off with a win then, if I want to, I can sit until midnight in the dug-out and have a think about things.

"But it's important to remember that we've got a part to play between three o'clock and a quarter-to-five - do that part and make everybody else's day."
