Colchester manager Geraint Williams is keen to protect his young winger Medy Elito from the pressure of expectation.

The 17-year-old scored his first league goal against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday and has been tipped as a potential star of the future.

But Williams told BBC Essex: "He's got a lot of natural ability but he doesn't know the game yet.

"It's important that we put an arm around him and let him develop at his own speed."

He added: "The way he took the goal at West Brom showed his natural ability. What we've got to is make sure he can put that into a team performance."
