Colchester have named ex-Wales defender Kit Symons as their new assistant boss.

Symons left Crystal Palace after Neil Warnock's appointment as manager in October and fills the void created by Micky Adams' departure last week.

U's boss Geraint Williams told his club's website about the 36-year-old: "Kit is coming in as a keen coach in all areas of the game.

"He has the same sort of ideas on football as me and will fit in perfectly with the first-team set-up."
