Colchester have appointed former defender Joe Dunne as their new reserve team coach. Dunne played 205 games at right-back in two spells with the U's and returned to Layer Road in 2003 as youth team boss.
He has been working closely with manager Geraint Williams, assistant Micky Adams and the senior squad during the pre-season period.
Dunne told the club's website: "It is a great honour to be assist with the development of professional players."
