Colchester United have extended the loan spell of defender Chris Barker from Championship rivals Cardiff City until the end of the season. Barker, 26, joined the U's in August and has been instrumental in their climb to seventh in the division.
He told BBC Essex: "The manager spoke to me abut staying a month ago and I knew this is where I wanted to be.
"Ideally it would have been permanent but it couldn't be agreed. I will stay and see what happens in the summer."
