Richardson has been impressed by his recent trialists

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson hopes to sign trialist Val Teixiera before Saturday's game away at Dagenham and Redbridge.

The 31-year-old Portuguese striker scored a hat-trick in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wolves on Wednesday night.

"It's a bit early yet but something may happen before the weekend," Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"The trialist did well but I don't want to go into details."
