Chesterfield have finally signed former Walsall midfielder Michael Standing on a month's contract. The 25-year-old had been a free agent since leaving the Saddlers in July, and the Spireites had announced on Wednesday that they had signed him.
However, the Football Association then pointed out that if he is released at the end of the month, he could not join another club until January.
After considerattion, Standing has now agreed to put pen to paper on the deal.
However, he was not considered for contention for the squad for Saturday's 3-2 defeat by Swansea.
He has also previously played for Aston Villa and Bradford.
