Chesterfield will not be allowed to extend the loan of winger Kevan Hurst for the remainder of the season. Hurst will return to Sheffield United in January when his current deal ends.
Meanwhile the Spireites have decided not to offer Michael Fox, Sam Lancaster and Anthony Jubb new contracts when their deals expire in January.
Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland told BBC Radio Leeds: "We gave them six months to develop into first team players and they haven't done that."
