Premiership side Bolton recalled the 20-year-old midfielder from his loan spell because on injuries problems.

Niven finished a successful two-month spell with the Spireites after Saturday's win at Peterborough, which lifted the club out of the drop zone.

McFarland told his club�s website: "Derek Niven is definitely the type of player we need for the future here."
