Chesterfield striker Luke Beckett is in talks with First Division strugglers Stockport over a possible move to Edgeley Park.

The 25-year-old, who has been on the Saltergate transfer list for the past month, is set to become Carlton Palmer's second signing since becoming the Hatters' player-manager.

Palmer was originally thought to be chasing Mansfield's leading scorer Chris Greenacre.

But he moved for Beckett after the Spireites star failed to agree a move to Blackpool.
