Chester City have agreed a deal to sign York defender Richard Hope on a two-year contract. York boss Chris Brass had expected the 25-year-old to sign a new contract at Bootham Crescent but he opted to accept a deal from the Conference champions.
"He's done what he thinks is right for himself," Brass told the York Evening Press. "We agreed terms and thought it was a done deal so it's disappointing."
Brass is now looking for a new partner in the City defence for Steve Davis.
