Allen upset by penalty decision

Martin Allen
Allen is keen for his team to meet Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round

Cheltenham Town boss Martin Allen revealed his disappointment after they had a late penalty appeal turned down in the 0-0 FA Cup draw with Doncaster.

The teams replay next week, but Allen felt Town could have already booked a fourth-round tie with Aston Villa.

"The centre-back handballed it on the line to deny David Bird," said Allen.

"Higher level clubs get favourable decisions in plenty of matches, but it's sad not to get the decisions you deserve in the FA Cup."

He added: "I hope it's not the same when we have the replay on Tuesday.

"All the players said he used his hand when they got back to the dressing-room.

"Doncaster are a good team and playing on their patch will be tough, but we will not be over-awed by the occasion."
