Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker is planning for next season
Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker says the loss of revenue if Bristol Rovers opt not to share their Whaddon Road ground would have a significant impact.
Baker told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "We're looking at announcing a fairly substantial loss this year which we'll have to carry into next season.
"Obviously the Rovers income would have been helpful to us."
Rovers are yet to confirm whether they will play at Whaddon Road from next August as originally planned.
Baker now admits that Cheltenham would benefit from an early decision from his Bristol counterparts.
"We've got to start now preparing our budgets for next season, deciding what work we want to do on the pitch," he said.
"If Rovers were sharing with us, there would be some changes both to our budget and to what we would like to do with the pitch, so we'd like to be better informed.
"Next season is going to be very, very tough for us - as has been publicly said."
