Cheltenham central defender Gavin Caines will be out for six weeks and miss the start of the season after damaging cartilage in a knee. The 23-year-old was injured when he slipped and twisted awkwardly during a small-sided training match on Thursday and he will require surgery.
"He is lucky that he did not to have damaged the knee seriously," physio Ian Weston told the club's website.
"We are hopeful that the surgery can take place next week."
