League title is top aim - Lampard

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has said winning back the Premier League title is his main priority.

Lampard, who turned 30 this year, told BBC London 94.9: "I would like to win the Premier League back.

"I think the feeling we had as a group and the fans had when we won the first one, in particular, was amazing but the second one was as well.

"If I had to put them in order that's at the top of my list but the Champions League can't be far behind."

Lampard added: "When you get that close to it and feel that disappointment, you realise what it would have been like if we'd have won it."

"I think we've got the potential to do it. Whether we'll do everything this year, it's not easy these days but at least one of them this year and hopefully the other one in years to come."

Lampard, who joined Chelsea seven years ago, scored his 100th goal for the club earlier this year.

But despite success on the pitch the England international said he has struggled off the field since his mother passed away earlier this year.

"To be honest it's been a terrible year for me because of my personal situation, which supersedes football completely, it's been very difficult for me off the pitch."

But despite grieving the loss of his mother a week earlier Lampard decided to play in the second leg of Chelsea's Champions League semi-final against Liverpool in April.

"The whole thing is hard to explain because looking back at it now I was on auto-pilot.

That game was just an opportunity for me to be out there and try and do something positive, to try and make my mum proud

"I wasn't thinking straight, I was in shock and the only way I felt I could get through the situation was to just carry on with my football life because it gave me a certain focus.

"I'm not one to just lay indoors and feel depressed, I was very down.

"I needed to lift myself to a certain extent so that game was just an opportunity for me to be out there and try and do something slightly positive in the moment, to try and make my mum proud, which I know she would have been."

Frank Lampard was named BBC London 94.9's Player of the Year for 2008.
