AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi believes he will be able to re-sign Andriy Shevchenko for the Italian giants from Chelsea.

"I want to bring him (Shevchenko) back to Milan and it is very likely I'll achieve it. It would be great for us if he came back," he said.

Berlusconi is reportedly planning to pair Shevchenko, 31, with Barcelona star Ronaldinho for next season.

Milan intend to open talks with Barca with a view to signing the Brazilian.

Berlusconi said recently: "It would be good for Shevchenko to return to us. The fans know he'd be the ideal choice.

"I think regularly about Shevchenko and I often speak to him."

The Ukrainian scored 173 goals for Milan between 1999-2006, before joining the Blues in 2006 for �30m.

But he has failed to earn a regular spot in the team at Stamford Bridge, having made just 21 appearances in all competitions this campaign, scoring eight goals.

Shevchenko's first season ended prematurely when he had hernia surgery - forcing the striker to miss the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool and the FA Cup final.

Meanwhile, speaking about Ronaldinho, the Italian club's vice president Adriano Galliani confirmed to newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport that he will speak to Barcelona "in the next few weeks".

Ronaldinho is expected to leave Barca this summer following a turbulent season in which he has started only 13m out of a possible 31 games.
