Terry delighted by Anelka signing

Chelsea captain John Terry feels the club have made an inspired signing in striker Nicolas Anelka.

Anelka arrived from Bolton on Friday in a 15m deal and Terry feels the club have signed a complete player.

"I feel we're getting everything, he gives us options and he gives us pace and that stretches teams," said Terry.

"He scores great goals for every club he's been at and has all-round quality and will be great for us," added the injured defender.

Chelsea are currently without strike duo Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, who are with the Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations.

So Anelka, who made his debut for Chelsea in their 2-0 victory over Spurs on Saturday, will be a vital addition to the club.

"He came on and got on well with everyone instantly," said Terry. "He will fit in very well at our place."

The Stamford Bridge stalwart has been out of action since breaking three bones in his foot against Arsenal on 16 December.

He will have a scan on the injury on Monday and will then learn how long it is before he can return to full training.

"My injury is healing up well and I'm looking to step-up the rehabilitation," Terry said.

He still hopes to be fit for England's friendly with Switzerland next month but admits his chances are slim.
