Contract talks at the end of last season were a hindrance for Lampard

Lampard, 29, has two years left on his current deal and has postponed negotiations until the end of the season to stop him being distracted.

Mourinho said: "I want him to stay for more than the two years, the club want him to stay for more than two years.

"The natural tendency is that one day they will agree a contract - they've 22 months to arrive at an agreement."

Mourinho added: "I'm very confident about the long-term future too because he wants to stay and the club want him to stay."

"He's exactly the same, he works the same, plays the same, has the same motivation, concentration and commitment.

"He had a broken toe for the last month and didn't miss a second of training, he's always available to train and play."

Despite postponing contract talks, Lampard insists he want to stay at the club.

"I've told the club I don't really want to get involved in negotiations which aren't going to end well while I'm playing football," said Lampard on Thursday,

"That's because this is a big season for me and for the club."

Lampard has been linked with a move to Spanish side Barcelona but added: "My intention is to stay. I've got two years left on my contract.

"I want to stay for the rest of my career. It's as simple as that.

"I hope it gets sorted and that it gets sorted soon, at the end of the season, or the next time we talk - and the club know that.

"The club know my intentions, and it's certainly not a money issue.

"Some figures get bandied about, inflated figures, maybe that's done on purpose - but a lot of that's not true.

"Certainly the issues I've got with the club aren't to do with money.
