Ballack missed the FA cup final through injury |
Injured Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has been named in Germany's squad for the Euro 2008 qualifying matches at the start of June. Ballack, 30, recently underwent surgery on his ankle - but is back in training.
"Michael would like to play, at least in the second match. But we'll not take risks," coach Joachim Loew told the German Football Federation's website.
Group D leaders Germany face San Marino on 2 June in Nuremberg and Slovakia on 6 June in Hamburg.
They top Group D on goal difference with 13 points from five matches, the same as the Czech Republic and Ireland.
The Czechs have played six matches and the Irish seven.
Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is the only other English-based player in the Germany squad.
