Arsenal's Ashley Cole has been targeted by Jose Mourinho |
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insists that he will only bring in one more player before the new season. Arsenal defender Ashley Cole has been strongly linked with the Blues since criticising the Gunners' board in his forthcoming autobiography.
And left-back Asier Del Horno is set to exit Stamford Bridge with Athletic Bilbao and Valencia keen to sign him.
Mourinho said: "We can have one player arrive and one to leave. Other teams will work more than us on transfers."
Chelsea recruited Michael Ballack, Andriy Shevchenko, Salomon Kalou and Jon Obi Mikel before the World Cup, while Cole has been a constant target of the Premiership champions.
He added: "We have kept all the good players who were important for us last year and we have some new ones with a lot of quality."
Del Horno's impending transfer back to Spain would leave the Blues with only one recognised left-back in Wayne Bridge, who returned from a loan spell at Fulham in June.
England defender Cole has two years remaining on his Arsenal contract and boss Arsene Wenger is keen for his left-back to remain.
Cole, Chelsea and Mourinho were all fined last year after they breached league rules by meeting without Arsenal's knowledge.
And Cole has criticised the Gunners for making him a "scapegoat" over the tapping-up affair.
