Kezman has hailed the talents of his former Chelsea team-mate Robben |
Former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman says Blues boss Jose Mourinho has hindered Arjen Robben's development by leaving him on the bench. Robben struck the only goal of the game for Holland against Kezman's Serbia and Montenegro outfit on Sunday.
But Kezman, who is now with Atletico Madrid, told the Daily Express: "It is bizarre that Mourinho doesn't use a player of Robben's ability so much.
"He spent many times on the bench. Mourinho doesn't get the best of him."
Mourinho brought Kezman to Stamford Bridge for 5m in 2004 from PSV Eindhoven but sold him a season later to Atletico for 5.3m.
Kezman added: "The season when I was there at Chelsea, Robben showed a lot and he was the best player at the club.
"It is the player who is the star and the player who has to be number one. And when Robben plays like that, he is the best in the world in that position.
"Last season he had problems with the coach and deserves more respect.
"I said before the finals that Robben could be a big surprise. He can dominate the World Cup."
Robben joined Chelsea for 12m in the summer of 2004 from PSV Eindhoven.
