 | There have already been two meetings with Chelsea ... and they want me |
Borussia Dortmund's Brazilian left-back Dede claims Chelsea are in talks with him over a 6m transfer. "There have already been two meetings with Chelsea. The last one took place two weeks ago and they want me," said Dede, who is 27.
"Because I'm not an international, it's difficult to get a work permit to play in England," he told Ruhr Nachtrichten.
"Chelsea said they will get back to me and then contact Dortmund once they've found a way to get a passport for me."
Former Champions League winners Dortmund have debts of 50m and almost went out of business earlier this season.
The Bundesliga club are expected to sell their highest-paid players during the summer.
Since selling Celestine Babayaro to Newcastle, Chelsea have lacked cover in the left-back position and William Gallas has had to deputise for Wayne Bridge, who broke his ankle earlier this season.
Regarded as the best left-back in the Bundesliga, Dede signed for Dortmund just under five years ago.
Chelsea, who have been linked with other left-backs including Arsenal's Ashley Cole, AC Milan's Kakha Kaladze, Athletic Bilbao's Asier del Horno and Udinese's Marek Jankulovski, refused to comment on Dede's admission.
Blues manager Jose Mourinho has said he will sign one left-back, a midfielder and a striker this summer.
