Jol says Chelsea need to excite
Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho (left) with Tottenham coach Martin Jol
Tottenham coach Martin Jol says Chelsea must play exciting football to ensure the future good of the game.

"I think Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is an idealist," Jol told BBC Five Live. "He is not only a coach, he is someone who wants to play great football.

"He has to do that because everybody has to keep pulling in the crowds.

"The only future we have in football is if everybody likes it and we can pull in the crowds. You can only do that with exciting football."

Jol pointed to Dutch coach Louis van Gaal as an example of someone who successfully combined success with attractive football.

"Louis van Gaal won the champions League at Ajax with a team that averaged 21 years of age and by playing attacking football," added Jol.

"He was a coach who could combine results with very fine football and I think Mourinho will be just like that."

And the Tottenham boss added that it is the obligation of all Premiership teams to try and play attacking football.

He said: "Before the season all the managers come together and talk about it.

"We can't have the press or the media talk about boring football.

"You realise English football is all about excitement and we have to do that in the future."
