Chelsea's Frank Lampard has been named England player-of-the-year by fans, who put him ahead of Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole. The midfielder, who got 40% of the overall voting, told the FA's website: "I'm really proud to have won it."
"It was a great year and this is a great reward," he added.
Lampard is also being tipped to win the Football Writers' Association and the Professional Footballers' Association player-of-the-year awards.
England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson said: "If I was a player voting for the best in the year, then Frank Lampard would certainly be very high on my list."
Lampard enjoyed a successful Euro 2004, where he scored three goals in a series of impressive performances.
He said: "It was the highest point in my career. The most enjoyable month in my career, probably of my life."
