Charlton caretaker boss Phil Parkinson is determined to improve on his side's showing after the loss to Coventry.
The Addicks play Derby next and Parkinson said: "If it's me in charge I will be doing all I can to get a better performance out of the team.
"I don't think the uncertainty (over the managerial position) helps but I'm not going to use that as an excuse.
"It doesn't matter what is going on in the background, you have to roll your sleeves up and have a real go."
