Alan Pardew says he's disappointed to lose Scott Sinclair |
Charlton manager Alan Pardew says he is disappointed that Scott Sinclair's loan has finished but said it was in the player's best interests to leave. Sinclair, 19, joined Crystal Palace on loan from Chelsea on Thursday, the same day he left the Valley having made only three substitute appearances. Pardew told BBC London 94.9: "It was unfortunate because Scott's going to be a very good player. "He was frustrated as he wanted to play and I couldn't guarantee him that." He added: "Our form has been poor and we've not really had a game where we felt it would be fair on him or us for him to play. "I've got some good wide players here and Lloyd Sam is coming back to fitness and I just feel that it would be unfair on him if he's not starting and unfair to keep him here." | I've had to re-address that and create a scenario where we're winning games Charlton manager Alan Pardew |
Charlton have extended Reading striker Leroy Lita's loan until the end of the season, despite the fact that the 23-year-old has failed to score in four starts for the Addicks. Pardew said: "He's a natural goalscorer and we'd like to create a few more chances and give him the opportunity to score and we've worked on that. "He's obviously sharper then when he arrived and I had a verbal agreement with Steve (Coppell, Reading manager) that he would stay. So this has not been a short-term fix, this is something that I thought might get us promoted. "It's the same with Scott (Sinclair) and Cookie (Lee Cook, on loan from Fulham), I brought these players in to give us a little push and it hasn't worked out. "So I've had to re-address that and create a scenario where we're winning games. Also, I've had to be fair to the players that are here as well as the players that I've loaned in."
