Charlton's departing chief executive Peter Varney has stressed the importance of the club's Kent fanbase. Thousands of supporters have used the club's Valley Express coach system.
Varney said: "We just said to fans we'll pick you up from your doorstep and take you back. It's things like that which have opened Kent up.
"With all the changes in the Thames Gateway in the next few years Charlton can only get bigger and stronger in Kent."
