Bent was the Premiership's highest English scorer last season |
Charlton and England striker Darren Bent has ended rumours about his future by signing a new four-year contract. Bent, 22, scored 18 Premiership goals last season to finish as the division's most successful English striker.
"Although I'm flattered to be linked with the country's biggest clubs I owe Charlton as they gave me my Premiership chance," he told the club website.
"I've a good feeling about this season. If I can match what I achieved last season I will be delighted."

The news is another boost for Charlton's pre-season preparations, following the arrival of new manager Iain Dowie and the signing of striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
"Playing alongside Jimmy is something I am really looking forward to, but I will be trying to score just as many goals as last season, if not more," said Bent.

"Everyone at the club is optimistic about the season and it is great that I am going to hopefully be part of another successful season."
Bent only just missed out on a World Cup call-up, and Dowie was clearly thrilled to have retained his services.
"This is fantastic news for the club and I think the chairman is to be congratulated on securing Darren's signature for the next four years," he said.
"I want to build a young, exciting team at Charlton around individuals like Darren who have a great desire to play for the club and are desperate to learn, to develop their game and to achieve success with the club."
