Charlton manager Alan Curbishley feels sure Addicks right-back Luke Young will recover from his ankle injury in time to make the England World Cup squad. Young, 26, injured his ankle against West Ham on 2 April but could return for Charlton's final game of the season against Manchester United on 7 May.
Curbishley said: "We did feel Luke would be out for four or five weeks.
"He has been in light training and we are confident he will be fit when the England squad is put together."
Young has been visited by England team doctor Dr Leif Sward and assistant Tord Grip to assess his condition and the outlook seems bright.
"They appeared to be happy with the progress Luke is making," said Addicks medical department boss Wayne Diesel.
England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson names his provisional 26-man party for the World Cup finals on 8 May.
