Ipswich boss Joe Royle was not shocked to see Darren Bent make an instant impact after leaving Town for Charlton. The 21-year-old striker has scored six goals in his first six games for the Addicks, and has also won a call-up into the senior England squad.
"I'm not surprised at all," Royle told BBC Sport. "He is a wonderful talent and has got immense talent.
"He is a nice kid with a great attitude and wants to learn. I am pleased, it is good to see the good guys doing well."
Apart from Bent, Darren Ambrose, Matt Holland and Hermann Hreidarsson complete a strong ex-Ipswich contingent at The Valley, and Royle continues to watch their progress.
He has had to sell several players to Premiership clubs but says he accepts Town's present situation.
"I went to see Charlton play Hartlepool on Tuesday to see half our old team," he added.
"At any weekend you will see eight ex-Ipswich players in the Premiership that have left while I've been in charge, and that is only three years.
"It can be frustrating but I came here to manage Ipswich for better or for worse and there is no axe to grind about that from me - it's just how it is."
