Charlton striker Darren Bent has been named Barclay's Premiership player of the month for August, the first of the new campaign. Bent joined Charlton in a 3m package from Ipswich and made an outstanding start for the Addicks.
The 21-year-old scored four goals to help Charlton win their opening three Premiership matches.
His goalscoring start to the season earned Bent a call-up into the England squad for the friendly against Denmark.
Bent opened his account on his Charlton debut with a brace in their 3-1 win at Sunderland on opening day.
He then notched the winner against Wigan, before weighing in with another as Charlton won 3-0 on the road again at Middlesbrough.
Jim Hytner, a member of the awards panel, said: "It's great to see a young English player make such a fantastic start in the Premiership.
"His direct style combined with electric pace is sure to unsettle defences throughout this season.
"It's been a real Roy of the Rovers start for Darren at Charlton."
