Celtic have rearranged their friendly with AZ Alkmaar

Celtic's friendly against AZ Alkmaar has been rescheduled for Wednesday 28 April in Glasgow.

The friendly had been postponed due to the travel chaos caused by the Icelandic cloud of volcanic dust.

With flights suspended all across western Europe after the eruption from Eyjafjallajokull, the Dutch side were not certain to make the journey.

AZ Alkmaar, managed by former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat, currently sit fourth in the Eredivisie.

The friendly against Alkmaar was organised as a free match for Celtic season ticket holders because the club had not been drawn at home in any of the domestic cup competitions other than the home tie against Hearts, which Celtic lost 1-0.

Meanwhile, Alkmaar have confirmed that Gertjan Verbeek will take over as head coach from next season, with Advocaat expected to assume a new role as the head coach of the Russian national side.

The 47-year-old has signed a three-year contract after agreeing to leave Heracles Almelo, where he was under contract until 2012.
